The Lamasery
8th Avenue and 47th Street in New York City

Took the E train across town to photograph this building, originally known as The Lamasery, which in the1870s became the home of the newly formed Theosophical Society with a spiritual center focusing on more esoteric practices. I'm hoping to do a concept painting and now will have to paint the ghost of Madame Blavatsky into the top floor window on the right. The New York Sun called Blavatsky 'The Mad Heathen of 8th Avenue."  From what I know, she was into some powerful and fascinating things.

When I was done shooting, I walked along Broadway, stopping in the first Army Navy Surplus store I've seen in I don't know how long. Took a left on 44th Street on into Times Square, now like a ghost town.
